Sandra Long

Hello Friends,

I am writing to you today as the snow is softly falling. It's quite beautiful all around me. I might have to sneak out and enjoy the outdoors before I get the day rolling.

I am hoping you are having a wonderful start to 2024. January has been incredibly busy for me. I hope to have a more balanced February so I can enjoy the snow more next month.

Let's get started with the changes from this month.

LinkedIn Updates – January 2024

For Companies:

πŸ‘‰ Super exciting new FEATURED section for company pages. Look to see if your company has access. Right now we can only feature company page posts. I hope this will evolve and become more like the personal featured feature. Fingers crossed we will be able to add links and media someday soon.

πŸ‘‰ Companies can now sponsor a page article for greater visibility. This feature is designed for lead generation with a call to action button.

πŸ‘‰ Need help with your company page? Now you can contact LinkedIn.

For Freelancers

πŸ‘‰ I am hearing that the Services Page is moving to a lower position on the profile. (Bottom of About) This will be unfortunate for service providers and freelancers. The new name is "Services."

For Job Seekers

πŸ‘‰Let an employer know you are interested in their company. Click on the "I'm interested" button. We had it before but it has now moved to the job description area.

πŸ‘‰ Use the updated "Preferences" section to indicate your job preferences. They will be displayed on the job details pages that you are viewing. Select the employment type, location, and pay data.

For Creators and Event Organizers:

πŸ‘‰ Events are being improved for organizers. Look for "speaker reminders" for your events.

πŸ‘‰ Check out post analytics to learn who looked at your profile after viewing your post. I ❀️ this feature.

πŸ‘‰ As you may remember, I love the Collab Articles feature. Now we are going to see more improvements. Look for more visibility and discoverability. Look for the ability to reply to a contribution.

πŸ‘‰ Microsoft's Designer will be available to use within LinkedIn articles and newsletters. This gives us a super cool AI design capability.

πŸ‘‰ Expect to see more capabilities around Sponsored Articles.

πŸ‘‰ Use the new "Add to Calendar" when you register for an event on LinkedIn.

AND look for a reminder notice too.

πŸ‘‰ Look for a new help page for event organizers. Nice! Here it is.

LinkedIn Profile Updates:

πŸ‘‰ We are now able to add up to 100 skills, instead of 50. Additionally, the top two are now most visible (instead of the top three.)

πŸ‘‰ LinkedIn is changing the appearance of our Public Profile for people who aren't logged into the platform. This is also too bad because many of our viewers arrive from Google. Less profile information will be available, unfortunately. The headlines aren't showing at all! The About section only displays the first line. On the positive side, our articles and contributions to collaborative articles will be displayed.

πŸ‘‰ We keep seeing AI suggestions for our profiles. So far, I am not impressed.

πŸ‘‰ An additional custom button is available for premium users. The new one is called "request services."

Interesting for all (Miscellaneous):

πŸ‘‰ X ( Twitter) is now fully gone. Recently LinkedIn removed our ability to post to X simultaneously, and now our handle is missing from our Contacts section.

πŸ‘‰ There was a serious data breach this month. Here is my post.

πŸ‘‰ Also, be ready to multi-task more easily if you are an event attendee. Watch the event from a live thumbnail version.

πŸ‘‰ Improve the ways to find events. Look for "events recommended for you."

πŸ‘‰ The LinkedIn Help page has been redesigned. Looks nice.

πŸ‘‰ LinkedIn is asking us what we find valuable. They are collecting our feedback so they can provide us with a better experience. We are training the feed also.

πŸ‘‰ Enjoy a more comprehensive search of content now. Look for the content type filters.

πŸ‘‰ LinkedIn Learning Mobile app: Look for "Daily" which are short-form videos created by the instructors on various topics.

πŸ‘‰ LinkedIn is now recommending people to follow with their new "follow suggestions."
